On March 2 we had a special lunch of potato-leek soup and Welsh cakes- to honour the patron saint of the church.   It was a delicious lunch enjoyed by all.  St. David lived in the 6th century and was a monk who lived a simple life.  It is said that he and his followers ate a vegetarian diet which was mainly leeks.  He became the patron saint of Wales. On this Sunday Rev. Basvi based his sermon on the last words that Saint David gave to his followers: "Be joyful, keep the faith, and do the little things"

The phrase "Gwnewch y pethau bychain" - "Do the little things" - is still well-known in Wales.
