Easter Pagaent 2016 "Teacher"

Winter 2016

We will be focusing on 1 Corinthians 13;4-7, exploring the concept of Love, through art projects, creative discussion, music and drama.  The session will  finish with an Art Exhibit on Valentine's Day in the church hall.  We will then take this concept of Love and transition
into our Lenten teachings, and begin rehearsing for our presentation of "Teacher."

Mustard

Over 20 local children, youth and adults starred in “Mustard”, a light-hearted, one act musical about the power of good deeds created by Delta composer Lesley Sutherland for a unique new creative arts based Sunday school program at St. David’s Anglican Church.

Sutherland, a conductor, composer, writer and music teacher who has composed musical scores for film, live theatre and television, including for the popular kids CBC pre-school series “See the Sea,” proposed the idea for the new kind of Sunday School program last year, called "The Creation Zone".

"When we feel inspired, and are creating and using our imaginations, we are connecting with the best part of ourselves: our souls, and ultimately, with God.

"The Creation Zone" welcomes any interested children and youth aged 5 to 17.   The program runs Sundays during the 10:00am service, and explores themes through drama, music and art projects.  The inaugural production, “Mustard,“ based on the parable of the mustard seed, includes original music by Sutherland, and will play again at All Saints Anglican on Sunday, November 22, 10:00am.

Next up will be, "The Star of Bethlehem" a festive evening, presenting the Christmas story through beautiful music, lessons, drama and sing-a long carols,  on Sunday December 13th, 7:30pm, featuring the choirs of St. David's, as well as the children and youth of the Creation Zone.    Families are invited to be part of this special evening and are welcome to join in on the fun with the Creation Zone on Sunday mornings, or with the Christmas Choir on Thursday evenings at 7:30pm.   To learn more, contact  St. David's Church.  (604) 943-4737 or email admin@stdavidsdelta.com
